Are you part of a book club?
Did you know that for what it would cost your book club to buy next month’s book, you could get over 30 children their very first book to call their own? That’s an entire classroom!
As a former first grade teacher, I’ve seen the difference that owning books can make to children.
That’s why I was so excited when Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s leading children’s literacy nonprofit, came to Sage with an exciting opportunity to help kickstart their Book Club Fundraiser Program – and get it launched in time for National Reading Month.
The Project:
Sage was tasked with creating a toolkit for book clubs to use to host their own fundraisers. To make it extra engaging, we created bookmarks to give out, a suggested books list, a question guide, a one-pager on RIF with a QR code and unique URL, a special donation page for book clubs, and a follow up email to send to participants.
The End Product:
The Lesson for Fundraisers:
What makes this opportunity special? For one, it does not feel like an ask for money. It shows RIF understands who its donors are as people – and is giving them an opportunity to give back in a special way.
Remember, fundraising doesn’t always have to be asking a donor for a gift. It can empower your donors to do something they love, like reading or hosting a book club – and in doing so, share your mission with other like-minded individuals who may not know about you!
So don’t be afraid to think outside the box and try something new!
